One of the most popular holiday destinations in Florida, Tampa, and the surrounding beach resorts of Clearwater and St Petersburg are a great place in which to relax for a week after spending time enjoying yourself in Orlando, or as a holiday destination in their own right.
Tampa is most famously the home of the Busch Gardens theme park - one of the largest in the USA, where you can ride some of the biggest and most impressive roller coasters in the country; walk through beautifully manicured gardens; and see the huge collection of animals in the neighbouring zoo.
Tampa enjoys a beautiful location on the Gulf Coast of Florida, with many stunning golden sand beaches that you can relax on and soak up the sun that comes as standard as a result of the area's super year round.
If you're feeling restless, Tampa and its surrounding area offer a wide selection of activities to occupy your time, popular choices include deep sea fishing, and sailing off the coast, while if you would prefer to stay on dry land, then the opportunity to play a round of golf on one of Tampa's selection of championship standard courses is something that no fan of the sport should miss out on.
If you're more of a spectator than a competitor, then Tampa has several major sports teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and the Tampa Bay Lightening, who play American Football, baseball, and ice hockey respectively.
The city has an excellent year round calendar of events, including the pirate related malarkey of the Gasparilla Pirate Festival every January, which is great for all the family, and well worth visiting Tampa to experience. For nightlife, head to the sea front in St Petersburg, where every night is Party night in the clubs and bars that welcome you with open arms.
