Distance: 139 MilesLeave Atlantic City and visit historic Smithville, a quaint little town where the sounds of yesteryear are very much alive. Continue north and visit the bustling seashore community of Seaside Heights, with its exciting Boardwalk swarming with thousands of rides, games of chance, and attractions, along with several amusement piers and rooftop miniature golf courses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. There are restaurants and snack bars along the Boardwalk as well. Continue north up the New Jersey Coast and visit the charming seaside community of Ocean Grove. Here, a quiet Boardwalk frames a very quaint town that looks today, exactly as it did in the early 1800's. Every building in this town is an example of old Victorian architecture. Finally, drive into bustling New York City and get a good night's sleep before beginning to explore.

Day 5 New York
Explore New York City, where there are many places of historical significance. Start uptown at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, the headquarters of George Washington and later to British and Hessian soldiers. Next, visit Fort Tyron Park and Margaret Corbon Plaza. Also in this part of Manhattan is Grants Tomb, where General Ulysses S. Grant was buried. See Times Square, the crossroads of America. This is the heart of the Theater District, where Broadway Shows abound. Also in this part of the city is Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. In lower Manhattan, observation platforms allow a view of Ground Zero, the site of the biggest tragedy and disaster in U.S. history. George Washington was sworn in as the first U.S. President at the colonial-style Federal Hall, with its elegant columns, located on Wall Street. While here, cross the street to the New York Stock Exchange and take a free tour. Next, stop by Fraunces Tavern, where George Washington delivered his famous farewell to his officers. From Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan, catch the ferry to the Statue Of Liberty. Return to Battery Park, and then take another Circle Line Ferry over to Ellis Island, the gateway through which more than 12 million immigrants entered the U.S. It contains an Immigration Museum.Day 6 New York - Staten Island - Freehold - Flemington - New Hope - Washington's Crossing - Philadelphia
Distance: 163 MilesDrive to Staten Island, New York City's southernmost borough. The attraction here is Historic Richmond Town, a village and museum complex revealing a glimpse of life in the Northeast back in the early 1700's. Next, travel to Freehold, NJ and visit Monmouth Battlefield State Park, site of the longest battle of the American Revolution. The site contains a Visitors Center, a restored Revolutionary War farmhouse, and an 18th Century landscape. We recommend a ride on the mule barge, a floating trip down the canal pulled by mules walking along the banks of the waterway. Cross back into New Jersey and continue down along the Delaware River. Visit Washington Crossing State Park. There are three historic houses here, the inn where George Washington dined before crossing the Delaware, Bowman's Hill Tower, and the Thompson-Neely Farmstead, where important conferences were held before the Battle of Trenton.
