New York is just about the most dynamic and exciting city there is. Home to almost 10 million people in total, and almost as many must see attractions; a visit to this incredible place is one of the most rewarding trips that you can ever take. From Times Square to Central Park, the Empire State Building to The Statue of Liberty, New York's iconic landmarks provide an immediate feeling of recognition for anyone who has previously only visited the city in their dreams.
Twenty four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days a year, New York is not only open for business, but is also up for it in a way unlike any other city. No matter what your interests are, you can find something in New York that will excite and thrill you, and no matter how much you think you know, New York's incredible brew of contrasts will teach you something new.
New York offers legendary shopping starts on Fifth Avenue, with big name department stores such as Bloomingdale's Sak's, Tiffany's, and FAO Schwarz, complemented by a huge variety of smaller upmarket boutiques, and myriad designer outlets where you can pick up the latest fashions at discount prices. In fact the shopping in New York is so good, that it is one of the main reasons why people travel to the city - particularly in the run up to Christmas every year.
But when the sun goes down on your sightseeing and shopping experience, the fun in New York is really only just beginning, literally thousands of restaurants offer every conceivable cuisine, and there are more bars and nightclubs than you could ever hope to visit, and that is before you even start on the entertainment.
The famous theatre district of Broadway is currently enjoying a real renaissance, with many new shows opening, and theatres reporting huge audiences coming to see the Hollywood stars, who are shunning the big screen in favour of the big stage. One thing that no visitor to the city should miss out on is the chance to see one of these shows during their stay.
New York is a city with so much going on all the time, that no matter how long your visit is, there will certainly be too much to fit in, and that is before you even start to explore the rest of the state. Within driving distance of Manhattan, you can find yourself in the stunning countryside of Upstate New York, visit Niagara Falls, and the cities of Rochester, Albany, and Buffalo. A holiday in glorious New York can be just the start of an adventure.
