Suggested Self Drive Tour Itinerary For Las Vegas

Day 1 Las Vegas Arrival

Arrive at Las Vegas McCarron International Airport, pick up your hire car, and then head to your hotel to spend the rest of the day enjoying the sights and sounds of Las Vegas.

Day 2 Las Vegas - Zion National Park - Bryce Canyon National Park

Distance: 216 Miles
Drive across the vast Nevada desert to Zion National Park, and view giant white rock towers and mountains that dwarf a narrow valley, punctuated with enormous waterfalls. Then, continue on to Bryce Canyon National Park, a giant bowl-shaped canyon with thousands of colourful red rock spires.

Day 3 Bryce Canyon National Park - Monument Valley

Distance: 218 Miles
Be sure to view the dazzling display of colour and light of the sunrise at Bryce Point. The sun rising above the canyon ignites the red rock spires turning them into an ever-changing kaleidoscope of colour. Spend the rest of the morning further exploring this magnificent wonderland, one of the most photogenic national parks in the USA, then drive over to Monument Valley. This is one of the most photographed areas in the west, a rugged terrain punctuated with giant red rock monoliths, strewn across a vast plateau. Monument Valley is in the heart of the Navajo Indian reservation near the small Indian town of Goulding. Spend the night in nearby Kayenta.

Day 4 Monument Valley - Grand Canyon

Distance: 178 Miles
This morning, drive over to the Grand Canyon, a magnificent sight where billions of years of the earth's history are revealed in the walls. This giant canyon is 1 mile deep and 10 miles wide, and one of the natural wonders of the world. Hike along the rim or partially down in to the canyon on a variety of trails, and view the sunrise and sunset at Mather Point.

Day 5 Grand Canyon - Wupatki National Park - Sunset Crater -Sedona

Distance: 155 Miles
Visit the Wupatki National Monument which reveals hundreds of Indian ruins dating back to the year 1100 AD. Nearby, visit the 1,000-foot high cinder cone of Sunset Crater, an ancient volcano, which dominates the surrounding fields of cinders, lava flows, and spatter cones. Next, drive down scenic Route 89A, a spectacular drive through Oak Creek Canyon from Flagstaff to Sedona. The road resembles a spiral staircase winding around giant red rock monoliths and buttes. Arrive in Sedona with its great shops and boutiques in plankboard buildings with the giant red rocks serving as a backdrop. Overnight in Sedona.

Day 6 Sedona - Montezuma's Castle - Las Vegas

Distance: 301 Miles
In the morning, leave Sedona to the south and visit Montezuma's Castle. These cliff dwellings are "apartment buildings" built by the Sinagua Indian tribe around the year 1100 AD are a very impressive sight. Then head west to drive over the top of Hoover Dam, one of the architectural marvels of the world. Optional tours are available of the Hoover dam before you return to glittering Las Vegas. Return your car to the airport before the departure flight, or stay for a few extra days and try your luck in the casinos.
