The city of Burbank was built on entertainment and aviation, and retains much of its vaunted past as an attraction to tourists. Home to major television and film studios for NBC, Disney, and Warner Brothers, in many ways, Burbank is the real Hollywood, whereas its near neighbour is increasingly becoming no more than a collection of museums and theme parks, Burbank is the place where all the hard work actually gets done.
Increasingly seen as just another bit of Los Angeles' massive unstoppable Urban Sprawl, Burbank manages to retain its hard won identity, and wandering around the city, you can visit some of the best shopping areas in California - The Media City Centre is particularly notable and offers a staggering number of shops and restaurants to browse through, relax in one of the many 22 parks, or see some of the city's many attractions.
A popular way to spend a day in Burbank is to get into the audience for one of the many television shows that are filmed there, particularly in the NBC studio where many famous programmes including the Will Smith comedy show "Fresh Prince Of Bel Aire" have been filmed.
As well as having many attractions in its own right such as the historic city hall building, Burbank is ideally situated for exploring the rest of the city of Los Angeles, and from a hotel in Burbank, such as the Holiday Inn, it is a simple matter to get out and about into LA itself, especially if you have arranged a rental car.
Amongst Los Angeles' legion attractions, Disneyland in Anaheim, Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills, and Hollywood itself are all popular places to spend time, and the city has many iconic sights that have featured in the movies over the years. Just walking through the streets of Los Angeles can make you feel like a star, especially if you look the part, so ensure you make a trip to Rodeo Drive to pick up the clothes, Malibu Beach to top up your tan, and then pound the streets of sunset boulevard with your sunglasses on, a smile on your face, and wait for the paparazzi to start hunting through your bin.
Los Angeles is a beautiful and enormous city where there is so much to do and see, that no matter how long you stay there for, there will be sights that you are physically unable to fit into your itinerary.
